Essay: Life Skill is Necessary in Our Life (and Islam view)

Nowadays, in Indonesia especially, looking for new job is difficult. Moreover, the limited numbers of company or job vacancy make living in this era with suitable and desirable job is very hard to get. In fact, data shows that the percentage of applicant and job vacancy is 1:300. The lack of employee and joblessness will affect to the peace and the balance of living society. This case will not be solved except there is a new invention. Imagine, if there is a creation, or creative discovery, it definitely will stimulus the new positive impact for our country, especially in case of employment and prosperity. Hence, a life skill is absolutely necessary to have and develop. Life skill is very important for our life.

An expert from educational institution in Indonesia, Dra Ery Soekresno, defines that Life-Skill is an ability that teach someone to be in rapture in any case, to be responsible for what spoken and done, capable to solve any facing problem, and to be successful person with the creativity that has been going on. Furthermore, there are at least four important aspects of which we may have in ourselves. Particularly, first is the ability to understand and seize our very own self. In addition, this point includes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual ability. Secondly, the ability to live in society is important for human being to have. Third, the ability to protect the nature is crucial too. And the last one is the ability of vocational. This is the ability to be professional and to enjoy our occupation.

            As a student of education department, the life skill is also very necessary. The truth is both public school and homeschooling undeniably need all aspect of life skill. In order to become a good students or teacher, life skill is necessary to be had and implanted in educational environment. For example, a teacher has to have a good communicating and teaching skill to lecture his student. Besides that, student also has to have a good innovation, creative and unique way, or method to improve his knowledge. Indeed, the role of parent and teacher are very vital. They have to develop their children’s curiousness. Also, they have to plan what is the best for their children. Moreover, parents should help their children to discover and looking for information. The other necessary things that parent should have done to their children are, pondering what have happened and to share what the children’s have been understood to the family or their friends. And the last thing that parent should be had for the kid is a real action. Basically, a one simple real action for helping the others would be good illustrations for the kid so they could copy what have their parent done.

            In the same way, in the education system, life skill is very undeniably significant for every single aspect of education. The aspect is including the lecturer as facilitator and the students as learner. Indeed, the educating system in school is likely to teach the students to memorize than to understand an object/case. Furthermore, the worst impact is development of social/emotional aspect, even spiritual aspect is not many achieved after school. Hence, if there is a good teaching or studying skill, or even there is a better method to develop the student’s potential talent, it will be more effective, more useful, and it will definitely has an excellent output.

            In the same way, Islam without doubt definitely expects all of human being to have a marvelous life skill. Indeed, Allah SWT has told in Al Quran which meant for all mankind, if someone wants to live cheerfully both in the world and the afterlife, he must be a person who has a life skill. In fact, a life skill is very needed for all human being to survive in this world. In addition, Islam definitely decrees that knowledge is much emphasized to be known, developed, and practiced in the daily life. Islam also told the believers to become a clever man. Besides that, Islam also gives a gift for those who are able to keep their belief and be a skillful person. Indeed, the gift is majesty in the universe and heaven.

            Summary, considering that point of view, for the reason of living life and preparation of the future, life skill is certainly essential for all mankind in order to reach the rapture.
